Club Assignment Things To Do This Month
January 2018

Have you ever made a resoution. A what a resolution.

A resolution is a promise or commitment usually made to yourself.

In the beginning of the year in January, people often make resolutions.  January is a good time because it is not only a new month, but a new year. You don’t have to wait until then, but it’s the time many feel they have a new start on life.

Resolutions are also goals. Goal helps us reach objectives in life or help us accomplish something

An example of Goals could be---learning something new. Getting stronger or faster for a sport or activity. How about getting your homework done on time? Your goal could be getting better grades on your test. (You can do it. I know you can.) Another goal can be to have a healthier diet.

When business people set goals, they have to be S.M.A.R.T. This is an acronym word which means goals have to be---

Specific---you have to know what you want to accomplish.

Measurable—you have to be able see your progress.

Attainable---you have the ability to do this. Driving a real army tank at 12 years old may not be a attainable goal.

Realistic---a goal to fly like superman is not for real (well maybe not).

Timed---Lastly, a goal must have a time----you must say when you will complete your goal and stick to it.

You don’t have be in business or school to set goal for yourself. You don’t have to be a teenage or adult to set goals for yourself either. Everyone should have goals for a part of life they want to get better at or enjoy more. In fact, having goals as a tween will help you be good at it when you are older.

Having goals to learn how to swim will help you to enjoy water activities more. Learning a new language will help you to communicate and talk to others better.

More on resolutions
Sometime resolution may help you stop a bad behavior. A behavior could be things like interrupting others when they talk or simply not be sensitive to the feelings of others.
Do you express appreciation to people in your lives who help you? A resolution may be to say thank you or I love you to others more.

Many time people break the resolutions they make in January. Don’t let that discourage you. The fact that you have set a goal is great.

As club members and believers in Jesus Christ, we don’t have to try to complete our goals and resolutions on our own. We have a helper. He’s called the Parakletos or the Holy Spirit. He empowers us with supernatural ability to do all things with his strengthen in our beings. And if we fail or miss the goal, Jesus’ blood has forgiven us, allowing us to get back up and keep moving forward so that it will be as if we had never stopped.

Club Assignment.
  1. Pray and Think about at least 3 goals or resolutions you want to do this year
  2. Write them down in your club journal
  3. Write down when you want to complete them----make sure they’re SMART
  4. Pray and ask God to help you do them and trust that he will.
  5. Tell somebody you can trust so they can encourage you.
  6. Every week measure how much closer you are to you goal or much you are doing your resolution.

Scripture to Learn

Proverbs 3:5,6 KJV Bible
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5,6 The Message Bible
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.
